Hello from the Left Coast

Well, how life has changed in the last six months since my last post! Lets just say I'm not in Florida. Let's try Seattle. Yep... that's right folks, we now live in Seattle. Ted was offered a fabulous job at Boeing so we made the leap and moved out to the left coast. We have been here since January and we are enjoying the change of scenery. We still have unpacked boxes in the garage, but we had those in the house in South Carolina after we lived there for five years! LOL

The blog ring I have been lucky enough not to be kicked out of because I never post- SORRY!!, has asked to post about a trip we have taken. How about a cross country relocation drive with 3 dogs and 1 cat? Now that was a TRIP!! We drove from South Carolina to Seattle in 5 days. It was approximately 3,500 miles and was the longest and fastest trip of our life! We drove for 12-14 hours a day and only stopped for gas, food and to sleep each night. Then throw in two basset hounds, a geriatric husky (who forgot he was potty trained) and a cat in a carrier, and you have a trip of a life time!

Thankfully, the trip was uneventful. We had beautiful weather, which was a blessing when you are traveling across the country in early January. We decided to take the Southern route across I-40 then up I-5. We didn't run into any snow and only caught some rain for brief periods. We saw some beautiful parts of the country that I have never been to and would love to go back to explore. Unfortunately we didn't have the luxury to be able to do that on this trip. It was amazing to see the miles of trains criss-crossing the Southwest. The the highest snow topped mountains in Arizona. The nothingness of Texas, New Mexico and Arizona for that fact.
And California....wow... really, the speed limit is 55 when you are pulling a trailer. UGH. Do you know how long that state is??? We thought we would never get out of there! People told us Texas takes forever, but we only went through the tip of the pan handle. Try driving through the whole state of California. Doing 55 mph. We were never so happy to see Oregon in our life!!
Sorry, Cali.....

Despite the long days on the road, McDonalds every day for lunch (and sometimes for dinner), we made it safely to our new home. We are having fun exploring our new city and the surrounding area. There sure is a lot of things to do! And no GNATS!! YAY!!

I'm alive!!

Yes, I'm still here! A friend of mine "reminded" me that I still have a blog! LOL!!

I'm sure lots of you know there are lots of changes going on here. Ted is now working at Airtran in Orlando and I will join him as soon as I can find a job. Looking forward to the new adventure. It's tough being apart but we are making the best of what we have and realize it can be so much worse.

I'm still working on my masters and getting closer to the finish line every day. I'll be glad when that's D-O-N-E!!

Other than job hunting and working on school, I don;t have too much to say. I know it's been a long time, but that's all we have been doing.
All the hounds are good. Logan, the husky, is an old man and having a rough go of it right now but he's still plugging along.

Funny- I'm sitting on the porch and I can hear my neighbors hounds howling in her house! Glad to know it's not just mine-LOL!!

Better go feed mine before they start to howl!

Whats new???

I'm posting to my blog, that's what's new! LOL.... just kidding.
Instead, I have decided to put a garden in this year. We will see what happens. I have a few tomato plants, a cuke and some beans. Not much but enough for me.
My family used to have a garden when I was a kid- a huge garden. But, Michigan summers are very different than South Carolina summers. So, we will see how successful I am.

Baby... it's cold outside!

Yes, I know it's NOTHING compared to the North, but damn it all- this is the SOUTH! Ain't supposed to be this damn cold! Tried to go flying yesterday but couldn't because there was icing conditions in Florida. What???? yes, icing in FL... that is just wrong. Global warming my butt...
It's Ma Nature going through her normal "change". Now, I'm all about some cooler weather than the 100's degrees we have in the summer, but this is a little crazy.

So, what do you do when it's so cold outside? I finally took down my Christmas tree yesterday. Not sure what's on the agenda for today. Maybe I'll make some soup. But I'm hiding inside.
Yes, I have become a Southern Sissy!!

Songs of the Season

My assignment for the Holiday season is to pick out what Christmas songs are special and post. So here it goes!

1. I'll Be Home For Christmas.
I just love this song. It's a classic.

2. Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas. Guess it makes me think just for one day all can be calm and peaceful.

3. Charlie Brown Christmas Music- Because I couldn't WAIT to see CB every year!

4. Little Drummer Boy by Bob Seger. This song reminds me of my Dad because he loved it. Miss ya dad....

5. And just because I'm a little left of right and this makes me laugh...

Hope everyone has a Happy Holiday!
